Homecoming is a special time at Jackson High School. The weeklong activities include: spirit days, class competitions, preparation of a class float,  a powder puff game, pep rally, dressing up, a parade through downtown Jackson, football game, tears, fun, dance, bonfire, food, recognition of Homecoming Court and culminating in a football game on Thursday night. 

Each grade level competes to determine who has the most spirit. Some of the games that are played during the Homecoming pep rally are: Tug of War, Jelly Bean Pie, Got Milk, Pie Eating Contest, Eat a Napkin, Sheet Pull, All Aboard, Limbo, Toe Touch, and Aggie Spell Out.


Homecoming Court Selection Procedures


Students must meet the following criteria before becoming eligible for nomination:

  1. Candidate must have been a student at JHS for at least one full year.
  2. The student must have retained a scholastic GPA of 85 or better from the beginning of the 9th grade (9th grade students must have the same from the 7th and 8th grade.)
  3. Each candidate should possess a good, wholesome personality with a good attitude toward schoolwork and school activities and responsibility. (Must have a good disciplinary record.)
  4. All girls, including cheerleaders and majorettes are eligible.

A list of students who are grade-eligible to be nominated for the Homecoming Court are distributed to the student body.  All students are asked to nominate one student from the grade-eligible list.  The faculty committee will screen the nominees for qualifications. Top nominees will be placed on ballots.

The senior receiving the highest number of votes is the queen and the next two highest are senior maids. The two candidates receiving the most votes in 9th -12th grade are the homecoming maids.
